Course Overview

Starter Techie Mwalimu is a 25-week digital foundations program designed for teachers with little or no technology skills. It equips educators with essential digital literacy, AI readiness, and Google for Education tools to confidently integrate technology into teaching and learning.

The course blends hands-on practice, simple weekly tasks, micro-projects, and Google-powered classroom activities that match CBC and CBE requirements.

By the end of the program, teachers can:

• Use Google Workspace tools in school workflows
• Deliver digital lessons using safe, modern tools
• Apply foundational AI to improve teaching efficiency
• Create digital learning resources
• Support CBC competencies such as collaboration, digital citizenship, creativity, and critical thinking
• Lay the foundation to advance into the Techie Mwalimu Professional Level or external certifications

 

Target Group

• ECDE, Primary & Secondary School Teachers
• Tutors in TVET institutions
• Teachers with limited tech exposure
• Private, Catholic & mission schools
• Under-resourced schools preparing for digital shift

 

Learning Model

• 5 hours per week
• Hybrid delivery= Online (self-paced + live) + In-school coaching
• Weekly micro-tasks
• Hands-on experience with Google tools
• Assessment through quizzes + practical tasks
